At Elm Tree Community Primary School, we believe every child is an artist. Through our art curriculum, pupils are encouraged to explore their creativity, express their ideas, and develop confidence in their own unique style. We use a wide range of materials and techniques to help children discover the joy of making, designing, and experimenting.

Art at Elm Tree Community Primary School is about imagination, curiosity, and celebration. We value the process as much as the final piece, and we love to share our pupils’ achievements throughout the year in displays and exhibitions.

During the pupil’s time at Elm Tree, as part of their Art journey they learn the skills and techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, textiles and collage. Pupils learn about artists linked to each theme and critique the artists work as well as their own pieces.

Our curriculum is carefully planned to ensure children develop a variety of skills, techniques and love of Art! Pupils are taught skills through using a variety of materials and tools and build on skills and techniques. Pupils evaluate their pieces of Art and think critically about theirs and Artist work. Pupils learn about different Artists, craftsmen and designers, carefully analysing and evaluating their pieces.

We believe Art is for everyone and supports pupils to develop life long skills such as employability and creativity.
