At Elm Tree, we believe that understanding the world around us is essential and serves as a gateway to appreciating and engaging with the wider world. Our Geography curriculum is designed not only to equip our young learners with essential knowledge but also to ignite their curiosity about diverse environments, cultures, and global issues that shape our lives.
Geography is taught as an immersive and interactive subject. We adopt a holistic approach, engaging pupils in a variety of dynamic learning experiences that cater to different learning styles and needs. Fieldwork, projects, and hands-on activities create a rich learning environment that encourages pupils to connect with their local surroundings while gaining a broader understanding of the world.
Our curriculum is structured to integrate geography skills alongside knowledge of place and space. From an early age, pupils explore fundamental concepts such as weather patterns, map skills, and human and physical resources.
We also recognise the importance of citizenship and environmental awareness in our Geography teaching. Our pupils are encouraged to explore their roles within their communities and to develop an awareness of sustainable practises that can positively impact the planet and their future lives.
